My son is as autistic as you can get.  He is extremely low functioning, does not talk and can’t even control his bowels.  But I can tell you, because I am kind of a slacker when it comes to doctors and appointments and vaccinations that Max was LATE for these vaccinations and many of them were given to him AFTER he was diagnosed.   Max’s change from “normal” to “different” happened over about six months, from between the ages of two and three and never changed back.  I believe it has more to do with the “small skull/large brain” theory and DNA than vaccines.

The problem is, when you don’t vaccinate you are sentencing a child to one day contract an illness which could kill them anyway.  Measles is coming back.  Don’t let it.  Witchcraft and cats didn’t cause the black plague, rats did. Don’t kill the thing that you think might cause something and let loose something far worse…  Superstition is still rampant today.  Stop and think and get the facts.

I believe autism is a genetic disorder.  And I also believe autism, like ADHD, has been grossly over diagnosed.  Come to our house sometime and take a look at teskbook autism.  This is the real thing here, my friends.  I would push hard for separation of low functioning and high functioning into two separate diagnoses, because having so many lumped together makes if difficult for families like ours to get real help.  The mental health system just can’t take care of so many, and some of us have to go without services we really need because of it.

Okay…  Sorry.  Done preaching.  I just saw a thing on CNN about vaccines and how, thanks to the autism scare, people aren’t vaccinating their kids and they are starting to see more measles cases…..
